Novus welcomes latest apprentice cohort

National maintenance and decarbonisation contractor, Novus Property Solutions, has welcomed its latest cohort of 10 apprentices for 2024, following a competitive selection process with more than 500 applicants.

The apprentices, ranging from ages 17 to 23, have been awarded roles based at several of Novus’ offices across Great Britain, covering a variety of trades as well as quantity surveying and business administration, as the contractor plays its part in addressing the industry-wide skills shortage. All 10 recruits have been assigned a mentor for the duration of their apprenticeship.

As part of its onboarding process, Novus recently hosted a two-day welcome event featuring outdoor teambuilding activities including archery and high ropes at Kingswood outdoor activity centre in Staffordshire. The apprentices also teamed up with their mentors for a social value day at the Albrighton Trust Moat and Gardens to refresh some of the space for visitors to enjoy.

Novus is a family-owned business currently led by fourth and fifth generation family members and CEO Lee Hartley, who has dedicated his entire 28-year career to the Seddon family business. Hartley, alongside former chairman John Seddon and Joe Seddon, were on hand for the welcome event to share personal accounts of the family business and values, and to offer advice on making the most of the apprenticeship.

Hayley Degg, Resourcing Manager said: “We’re delighted to welcome our 2024 cohort of apprentices to Novus, as part of our ongoing commitment to address the skills shortage in the industry. As the next generation enters the workforce, it’s vital that we work to nurture their skills and help them to build careers to secure a positive future for the industry as well as for Novus itself. We look forward to supporting our apprentices and watching them progress over the coming months.”
