NHSPS celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

NHSPS has 105 current active apprentices and a pilot Graduate Programme.
NHS Property Services is proud to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2025, its commitment to nurturing talent and fostering professional growth within the NHS is stronger than ever.
In 2024 alone, 32 colleagues successfully completed their apprenticeships, while 23 new apprentices embarked on their journey, contributing to the skilled workforce within the NHS. The apprentices are currently pursuing qualifications across 24 different specialisms, ranging from Level 2 to Level 7. And NHSPS is proud to report that 100% of its apprentices have transitioned into permanent employment, underscoring the effectiveness and value of these initiatives.
In recognition of its dedication to apprenticeship programs, NHS Property Services was awarded Silver Status from the 5% Club in 2024. This accolade means that between 3.3% of the organisation’s employees are engaged in earn-and-learn programs.
Rina Pandya, NHSPS’ Chief People Officer, said: “Our aim is to make this a great place to work, with an open and inclusive culture, encouraging all colleagues to reach their full potential and be the best they can be.”
Hero stories:
Gwen Binyon, Domestic Assistant, said: “I have dedicated over 15 years to working as a domestic at NHS Property Services. In 2023, I seized the opportunity to embark on an apprenticeship, a decision I made after a lot of soul-searching. I initially thought I would never be good enough to achieve a qualification, that I was too old at 55 years old and would just be wasting management's time. I was so wrong. This apprenticeship has been instrumental in shaping my career aspirations. It has confirmed my passion for NHS Property Services and inspired me to pursue further opportunities. I am now more confident in my abilities and excited about the future than ever.”
Will Harwood-Moss, Apprentice Maintenance Technician, said: “I've always wanted to start an electrical apprenticeship; I've always been a hands-on person and being an electrical engineer means I can be there in the situation helping people. Every day is different with the wide range of installations we work with. On a day-to-day basis, I work with different electricians, and this allows me to build up my knowledge. The most important part is that they show me how to do the work in the highest standard possible while keeping the customer at heart. I’ve worked with a lot of mentors at NHSPS, and they’ve made me feel so supported, being able to ask as many questions as I need. I would definitely recommend going for apprenticeship if you’re on the fence. It's a great opportunity to build on your knowledge, but also your social and technical skills - you can work across all across the country!”
Kerry Theron, Domestic Team Leader, said: “The woman in leadership apprenticeship has been such an adventure. I’ve learned so much about time management and emotional intelligence, it’s brought a whole other person in me that I never knew was there. I’ve always been a joker at work, but this course made me realise I can still be funny and manage a situation in the right way. It's always been my dream to work for a company where I could upscale myself and move upwards. Not just that but also use my work to make a difference no matter how small. I'm so grateful to Property Services for this chance, for seeing my potential and asking me what more could they do for me.”
