Hospitality and catering recruitment firm's initiatives back Neurodiversity Celebration Week

A leading hospitality and catering recruitment firm has signaled its support for this year’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week by urging businesses to implement more procedures which encourage neurodiverse job candidates.
Pineapple Recruitment, which specialise in providing professionals and support staff for the hospitality and catering sectors, has used this month’s global awareness week to launch a checklist for companies to help them see the potential and benefits that neurodiverse people can bring to their businesses.
The awareness week runs from 17 to 23 March and has seen the jobs agency encouraging businesses to use accessible job descriptions, reduce vagueness and jargon in job specifications, whilst using clear language which neurodiverse people can quickly grasp. The company, based in Worcestershire, is also championing for accessible interview formats and further support during a candidate’s onboarding phase.
Kasia Krieger, business manager at Pineapple Recruitment (pictured above) said: “We aim to support our clients and job candidates in any way we can and see that Neurodiversity Celebration Week is the perfect opportunity to raise the profile of the needs that neurodiverse candidates have.
“Our checklist is there to help businesses understand how they can tweak their approach to be more inclusive, before, during and after the recruitment process. Employers will often apply unconscious bias to their recruitment decisions due to misconceptions about barriers that neurodiversity poses rather than advantages that can come from it.
“Having a more diverse workforce, including neurodiverse individuals, brings several benefits to a business. We believe our clients will benefit from a true culture of inclusion and innovation, where people with different perspectives come together to problem-solve and look for solutions from unique angles through skills such as pattern recognition, attention to detail and high levels of concentration.”
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that aims to challenge stereotypes about neurological differences.
