Employers are split on whether home based workers are more or less productive
YouGov has published new data that finds bosses are split over where their workers are most productive. Among the key findings of the research, it is found that six in ten (60 per cent) of those who worked at home during the most recent period where the government recommended home working say they are more productive when working from home
A quarter (23 per cent) say it makes no difference whether they work at home or in the office, while 17 per cent say they are less productive at home.
Business decision makers are split on this, with over a third (35 per cent) believing their direct reports get less done when they are working from home. Thinking about their company as a whole, only a quarter (25 per cent) of business decision makers think home working is more productive, compared to 38 per cent who think the workplace produces better results
Despite their greater suspicions about their workers, when it comes to rating their own performance, only 28 per cent of business decision-makers say they themselves get more done in the workplace than at home. Two in five (44 per cent) say they are more productive at home, while a further 26 per cent say there is no difference whether they’re at the workplace or at home.
