We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Contracts Manager from a Hard Services  background to look after a team of engineers, facilities managers and subcontractors completing ppm and reactive maintenance across 3 local sites in the Clacton-on-sea area. Managing  a team staff, you will look after the team to make sure they hit all SLA and KPI targets across the sites, providing support and technical guidance as required.

The sites are educational facilities, and the contract covers planned and reactive maintenance as well as lifecycle, variation and defect works on the M+E assets of the building. These are PFI/LIFT contracts so experience in this field and advantageous but not essential.

This role would suit someone with a go-getting attitude to come in and run the team, a really people person who can coach and motivate the team.

As this role involves strategic management, this would suit someone in a contract manager role who is looking to take a step back from the rat race and work in a friendly and supportive environment.

The role:


  • Ensuring the PPM and reactive maintenance of the 3 local sites is completed in line with KPI's.
  • Managing a team of on-site engineers and facilities managers.
  • Coaching and developing staff and creating a ‘team first’ culture.
  • Managing external subcontractors for quality of work, compliance and price.
  • Deliver lifecycle and planned project works across the roles.
  • Ensuring technical and statutory compliance across the contract and assets.
  • Conducting site audits and risk assessments as required (SHEQ).
  • Completing the works within budget.

Please note as the sites are in the same postcode there is no vehicle or vehicle allowance with this role.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role will have the following skills and experience:


  • Come from a hands-on maintenance background - mechanical or electrical
  • Have experience managing staff..
  • Coaching mind-set.
  • Experience managing PPM and Reactive maintenance in line with a budget.
  • Must be willing to undergo a DBS check and must hold a UK driving license.
