Electrical Engineer Position
Overview
Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer to ensure the smooth functioning of Mechanical and Electrical (M+E) services across multiple buildings on the estate. As a key member of the Maintenance Team, you will handle Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance tasks, and may also engage in technical coordination for M+E project works. You will be responsible for task delivery, meeting contract requirements, and achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Support: Provide engineering support across sites within the region and assist FM support teams.
Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations and participate in the engineering call-out roster.
Task Execution: Complete self-delivery tasks, PPMs, and reactive work orders within specified timeframes.
Compliance: Adhere to Safe Systems of Work and supervise contractors to ensure compliance with H&S inductions.
System Coordination: Coordinate system shutdowns when required and manage stock levels of consumables and critical spare parts for electrical systems.
Maintenance Management: Ensure the economical, efficient, and safe maintenance of plant and equipment. Manage designated site documentation to meet legal and statutory obligations.
Safety Advocacy: Act as a Safety Champion by raising concerns and addressing issues weekly.
Resource Management
Time Management: Proactively manage time for PPM and reactive support across multiple buildings.
Material Requests: Raise material requests, obtain quotations, and complete material request forms.
Job Management: Manage jobs via the Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system and complete accurate timesheets.
Personal Development
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on UK electrical standards and regulations. Develop and maintain a wide range of M+E knowledge for all sites.
Manual Reviews: Review O+M manuals for new electrical systems and advise on PPM changes.
Training Participation: Engage in training for applicable policies and procedures, including Low Voltage AP duties.
Relationships
Team Collaboration: Be a proactive member of the Maintenance team, supporting supervisors and managers.
Subcontractor Liaison: Liaise with subcontractors for specifications, repair quotes, and material quotes.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2 NVQ Level 2-3 Electrical or equivalent with 18th Edition IEE Regs (BS7671).
Working knowledge of SFG20 Maintenance Specification.
Relevant training in building maintenance (first aid, MEWP, PASMA, Water Treatment Systems, LMS, BMS, etc.).
Health and Safety Training.
Membership of a professional engineering body is desirable.
Knowledge of Asset Management / CAFM / use of PDAs.
Experience:
Strong knowledge of electrical systems and building services in a maintenance environment.
Extensive experience in a multi-disciplinary technical team within complex facilities.
Skills:
Excellent all-round ability in a busy building maintenance team.
Proficient in IT skills – MS Office, CAFM systems, job management, etc.
Strong decision-making skills.
Effective communication and collaboration with customers, employees, and teams at all levels.
Proactive customer-focused approach.
