This is an exciting opportunity to join Dementia UK in a newly created, high-impact role as Head of Facilities, where you will lead the strategic and operational management of our working environments and help shape the future of how we work.

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of building maintenance, security, contract management, health and safety, and office services - ensuring our facilities are safe, sustainable, and support a high-performing, inclusive workforce. Based at our central office in One Aldgate, you’ll ensure the building runs smoothly, efficiently, and in line with the evolving needs of a growing charity.

This role also extends beyond the office walls. You will ensure our home-based and hybrid staff have the right support, including conducting Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments, and working closely with IT and HR to provide appropriate equipment and guidance for safe and effective remote working.

You’ll manage the facilities budget, drive cost efficiencies, monitor utility usage, and identify opportunities to improve environmental sustainability. You’ll also lead and develop a small but dedicated Facilities Team, fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Significant experience leading a Facilities Management function in a comparable setting
  • Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation and experience managing compliance, audits, and risk assessments
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to building maintenance, security, office operations, and supplier management
  • The ability to develop and implement practical and strategic facilities plans to support a dynamic, growing organisation
  • A collaborative leadership style with a commitment to staff wellbeing, accessibility, and inclusivity

This is your chance to make a meaningful difference. You’ll play a vital role in supporting our people, infrastructure, and culture - enabling us to deliver more for families facing dementia.

Our culture

In addition to a competitive salary and a generous benefits package, we truly value our people. It’s important for us to create a working environment that looks after our workforce to support them in achieving their full potential. You will become part of a diverse and dedicated team who are supported to use and develop their skills. We recognise and value the key role you will play in delivering our strategic plans for the benefit of those living with dementia.

Our staff have a voice. Representatives from different roles and levels across the organisation positively contribute to and lead on our working groups around health and wellbeing, menopause, and equity, diversity and inclusion.

Dementia UK is proud to welcome everyone. We aim for a truly inclusive culture with talented, diverse teams that represent a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We celebrate difference and individuality and encourage everyone to join us and be their whole selves always.

By applying to join Dementia UK, you acknowledge that in the event you are successful for the role, any offer and your ongoing employment will be conditional on you having or obtaining the right to work in the UK.
